What to Do When They Don’t Sign Up on the Spot? So you just finished your one to one, home party, open meeting, or online presentation and now it’s time for them to sign up! But they don’t. Now what? You gotta know what to do when they don’t sign up on the spot.
Follow-up is the name of the game! You can do all this work up front, but if you do not follow up after the presentation and all your efforts will be lost. Have you ever heard the phrase the fortune is in the follow-up? Well it is! So you better get darn good at follow-up.
So why are they not signing up? It is important you find out from your prospect what is going on in their head. Usually if a prospect does not sign up they have only a handful of reasons.
They want to think about it, they need to talk to their spouse, they want to try your product. Those are usually the main things. So let’s start at the top and work our way down.
Need to Think about It…
If they give you an answer like this, then it is very important that we find out what exactly they need to think about. Are they thinking about the compensation… if this will work for them? Or more info on the product? What is it that they’re trying to think about? You want a treat this time as if you are a detective. You need to know what exactly they need to think about? So that you can help get them the information that they’re looking for!

Well that’s great! Normally that is a good sign. Unless they are using it as a smokescreen to blow you off. Them talking to their spouse is a good thing! They want to get their spouses buy in and support. So if you just showed the plan and this is what they say, make sure that you do not leave your meeting without some plans to follow up with them so that you can meet with them in their spouse. This is important since obviously, you do not want them talking to their spouse without you there. As the spouse will have many questions and of course they will not know the answer. So set up a time to meet with their spouse.
They want to try the product.
That’s great! We always want people to feel 100% comfortable promoting the product that we offer. So I suggest that you give your prospect three to four days worth of your product. So they get an opportunity to try it and make sure it’s a good fit for them. Now there is something that is very very important that you remember. If you plan to give them the product you must get a confirmation that they will use it. So here is a statement that I usually use. “If I give you this product, do you promise to try it and give me your feedback?” Once they tell you “yes” they’re locked in. They’ve agreed to take your product and to get back with you with feedback. So you better have a plan in place for how you’re going to follow up with them. Usually a couple of days later would be a good idea.
So no matter what they say after you finish a presentation you always want to do what we call BAM FAM. Book a meeting, from a meeting. Never leave a meeting with a prospect without setting up your next time to reconnect.
How can you reconnect?
You can reconnect on the phone, you can use a leader for a three-way call, you can invite them to an upcoming home party event, you can invite them to a team meeting that is a bit larger. Just always be getting back in touch with them. You’ll use this BAM FAM philosophy all the way until they get in there in your business! And then once they’re in, you do it from there to launch them and their business. I hope this was helpful for you.
