In case you have not heard of him, Stephen Covey is one of the most world acclaimed teachers and the area of personal development… especially when it comes to business. He wrote a book called the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” In it he shares things, that if you put them into practice, they can help to maximize the results see you getting your life and your business.
7 Habits of Highly Effective People Summary:
Habit 1: Be Proactive
This is absolutely essential, it’s all about shifting your focus to what you can control. Many a times when we look down the road we know that there are things that may come up. If we know that now, why not take a moment to arrange things to your benefit. Being proactive is about focusing on what you can change… changing it…and getting the benefit of that.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
This is all about Vision. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do? You’ve never seen an architect begin a building without a set of plans in his hand when he starts! If you want to build the infrastructure of your life and create a legacy for years to come ~begin with the end in mind! 
Cast the Vision now! And then put plans in place to follow it out…
Habit 3: Put First Things First
This is awesome! Many times we let the distractions of life… social media, the ringing phone, and all the other distractions you can possibly think of, interrupt what really matters most. Putting first things first is about getting down to the brass tacks of what needs to be done. Have you ever heard of the book “Eat that Frog”?
It’s absolutely awesome! It’s all about doing the most important things first. Many times there are things that we don’t do simply because they’re intimidating, they scare us, or we really don’t find them that pleasant. However, they are ESSENTIAL to growth! So put those things first, and get after it!
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
If you ever want to grow long-term you must develop the philosophy of Thinking WIN-WIN. Whether you’re doing business dealings, something with friends, or anything else you can think of thinking of. Think Win-Win. It is so important because not only do you benefit, but the other party benefits as well! If you end up with a Win-Lose relationship that may work for the moment, but it will never stand the test of time. Always think WIN-WIN!
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood
This is one of the core fundamentals to conflict resolution. We are in Network Marketing…That being said, we deal with lots of people… So it is only natural that we will have a lot of drama. The skill and ability in which you’re able to handle conflict will greatly affect your business. Seeking first to understand then to be understood is one of the most valuable things you can learn to do.
Habit 6: Synergize
This is when one plus one does not equal two. The sum of the separate parties actually equals MORE! Simply because they corroborate together and come up with better ideas! Synergizing will help you multiply the results that you would otherwise get independently.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
The focus of this is Personal Development. If you have 4 hours to cut down a tree… spend the first three hours sharpening your axe. Don’t just get out there and start hacking away at a tree with a rusty old blade.
As silly as that sounds… That is what most people do! Many times they know what needs to be done: contacting, showing the plan, prospecting. However, instead of getting better themselves, they just begin hacking away at the prospects and the people in their team! If they would improve who they are first, they would find out they can preform better and the results will be multiplied many times over!
