So one of the most commonly asked questions is how to prospect strangers in network marketing?? People are always looking for how to find people interested in network marketing. The answer is – they are ALL AROUND US! You just need to ask the question!
Prospecting is a SKILL! It is just like anything else! You just need a little practice! It is not about having the right personality, or whether you are “out going” or not. Once you follow the recipe and develop your skills, you can drop down anytime, anywhere, any place and start building your business!
So then we just need to know How to Prospect?
One of the best places to prospect is while you’re out and about at a restaurant. Your server is a great person to talk to! Might as well ask the question— You are there anyways!
So here is how to prospect your server…I usually wait till the end of the meal, typically around the time when I am paying. Then I will normally throw out a compliment if they did a great job. Then ask them if they are open to other ways of making money. I get their phone number and suggest we meet up later to talk more. Then I am out the door and on my way! Usually right after I follow up with a text that it was great to meet them and I look forward to talking more. Then I will hit them up later that day, or the following day to set the time to meet. So here is how this may play out… This is an example for some one in a health and wellness business.
You –“Hey Sarah (Server Name), Thanks so much for taking such good care of us today! You really did an awesome job!
Server- “Awe Thanks! My Pleasure!”
You- “Hey this may seem totally random, but I am expanding my business here locally and I always keep my eye out for sharp outgoing people, like your self… I am just curious… do you happen to keep your options open for other ways of making money, outside of what you do here at the restaurant?”
Server—“absolutely! What do you do?”
You- “I have a health and nutrition product that we are bringing to the area! It’s helping a lot of people with their health and it pays crazy to talk about it. “
You– “Listen, I’ve got to run. But lets get together sometime when you are not working and I can share more about it with you…
What is the best # to reach you at?”
Grab the receipt and the pen and slide it across the table to the server.
Take their number and leave your contact info or business card or shoot them a text so they have your cell. Then you are out the door!
Follow up with them later that day or the following day. You can call or text them. Remember, you are just reaching out to set a time to meet up. If they seem hesitant, or want more info before meeting, just send them your company video. Something that is a brief “overview presentation” like around 10 minutes. You can use the video as a qualifier. It will help you to weed out the people who are not really a good fit for what you have. Just keep in mind you will not end up meeting with everyone you prospect. Some people will go MIA. Others will act fishy when you follow up. Its not you! People are people! You will have to go thru some numbers to get people to join your network marketing business. However, some will be excellent prospects and they can turn in to fantastic business partners! We have a gentleman in our organization that started out as servers and now is at the TOP Level in our company. You just never know!
So how do you prospect for your product? Ok so here is another example if you have a health and wellness company.
“Hey it looks like you are going non stop! What do you do to keep up?”
Look for ways to open up the conversation to an area or need that your product can help. Once you get the conversation going you can get a feel for how open they are and if it seems like they have an interest. Then you can place product with them on the spot or you can get their info and meet up with them later. You can decide what makes the most sense. If you do place product there is one very important question you must ask them…
“If I leave you some, do you promise to try it and give me your feed back?”
This is key! It gives you the open door to call and follow up. In fact, it actually sets the stage that is a “requirement” if you are going to give them your product. That way you can circle back around with them later and share more about them becoming a customer.
*** One note NEVER EVER Leave your product with out getting their contact info. If you do you are basically throwing your precious resources in the trash. It will do you absolutely NO good to place product with out getting a phone number.
