Social Media is the fastest growing way to expand and market your business. HOWEVER most Network Marketers do it all wrong! So we are going to cover some social media gone wrong case studies! Examples of what “To Do” and what “Not to Do!” If put to good use social media can grow your Team, Expand your Customer base and help you Build Your Personal Brand. (After all people join people; not products or companies.) If not put to good use, we can see how people that blast social media with a “Buy My Product” “Here is My Link” Message will continue to deteriorate the reputation of this incredible Profession we all call “Network Marketing”.
So lets begin with Social Media Mistakes Examples…3 Things NOT to DO
Social Media Mistake Number 1:DON’T “Pitch Your Audience”
People go on Social Media to check out the news with their friends and family. They don’t go on F
acebook to shop! Just think about that for a minute. When was the last time you opened your Facebook app to go purchase something…. Hummmmm….. that would be NEVER! Shopping not the purpose of social media. So why is it that the minute people join an MLM they blast their friends with a Sales pitch…. Yes, just food for thought… So, Social Media Mistake #1 is DON’T “Bulldoze Your Audience” with a “buy It Here” Message. It just doesn’t work! You may drum up some initial people but sooner or later your friends tune out to what you post and some may even “unfriend” you. So this is one practice I highly suggest against.
Social Media Mistake Number 2: No Negatives
This is a big “No, No”. Social media can work for us… And it can certainly work against us. This is one example of the later… Sometimes I see people post super negative or unflattering things on Facebook. Why? This is the “Billboard” of You! Negative posts are one thing that is awesome for REPELLING People… Not attracting them. Keep it light & bright. Be someone that is viewed as an encourager. Someone that always has some thing cool on thier wall. Not a complainer, whiner or negativist. If you do have drama or you have a lot of crazy stuff happening in your life. I totally get it. Contrary to what Forrest Gump has to say, life isn’t always a box of chocolates. So if you need help – call in the reinforcements! Spend time with the people that truly care for you. They can help you out and give you some good sound advice, or even just lend an ear to listen. Make a promise today you will put this truly fabulous platform to use. And decide to use it for your good!
Social Media Mistake Number 3: Don’t get Controversial
This is huge! If you know there is drama in the air, why go stir it up? We just came off an election year. There was TONS of drama around this topic. In fact, it got so bad that people were getting their cars vandalized; there were fights at rallies, it was terrible. People would post if you vote for “Hillary” or if you vote for “Trump” feel free to “unfriend” me since clearly we have nothing in common. Yes, I know its crazy but this really happened! So, steer clear of things that can getcontroversial. It is just better not to alienate parts of your audience that may not have the same view as you. Now, by no means I am NOT saying don’t stand up for what you believe. I have taken more fire then I could even begin to tell because I will ALWAYS stand up for what I believe. However I am just saying if you can avoid making things awkward with parts of your audience that may be a fantastic way to allow more of them to want to connect with you.
Now it’s Time for the Positives! What Should You Post?
If you can position yourself as “trusted friend”; someone that is the “Go To Girl Or Guy” for a particular subject, your response with your audience will greatly increase. For example if you represent a Health and Nutrition company. You could focus on sharing things that helps people who have an interest in health. For example… you could share weight loss tips or ways to increase your energy. You could pick a nutritional supplement that is in your product and share its benefits – B12, Cinnamon, Acia, Noni, Gogi… just pic one! Then say “Private Message Me for more info on how you easily get all these great benefit
s in your daily routing.”
You want to think about “who” you are trying to attract to you and come up with things you can share that helps make their life easier or piques their interest. You can share things you personally know about and do a Facebook live. Or you can pass on articles, videos, or images you think would benefit them and add your 2 cents. Also you can use the “Curiosity Factor” to have people message you…Like Posting “WOW! I got so much done today! I love having all this EXTRA Energy!” Post Encouraging Words and things that are “Share Worthy”. Anything that is Fun and Exciting is great. Things that are “social” like a Family Event, wedding, graduation, “date night”, throw back Thursday old school pictures… you get the idea.
