How is your Follow Up game?
Often times we get out there and we “do the deed”… We contact people and we show the plan. But then when it comes to following up sometimes it gets a little awkward. Right?
In fact sometimes it is even easy to get anxious about following up with people. And then we don’t even do it because we feel uncomfortable and we’re unsure what to do. Yes? Let’s talk about this…
So perhaps you had someone that you contacted over the last month or two and they put you off into the future. Now it is that future time and you’re not quite sure exactly how to circle back up with them. Well when all else fails is important to start with the basics. What is the basics you may ask?
The first thing is always your list!
Go back through your phone and look at the people that you spoke to you over the last couple of months. Check your call log, check your text message. Go through your Facebook account. Double check your calendar. Think about the places where you may have things that can jog your memory. We are looking for those people who you’ve already contacted and you know it’s time to go follow up with them. Your goal is to get at least 10 names down on paper.
Then we want to reach out and connect up with those people. In fact you could go so far as to set a goal for how many appointments you want over the next week. So what’s the scoop with following up?
What do you say? How do you reconnect?
How do you get back around to the thing that’s most important to you? Which is meeting up with them!
First and foremost reach out to them. You need to open up the dialogue again. Warm that Prospect up. If you haven’t spoke in a while, it is important to reconnect. Then at some point when you’re talking, just come out and ask them. You don’t have to be shy but after you’ve had a minute to reconnect just mention… “Hey, I know we talked about getting together to talk some business (or to talk about _______product) What does your schedule look like over the next couple days? Lets to reconnect so we can talk more about that.”
Then just go for your appointment.
Now they may not all agree to meet with you. However, at least you know where things are at and if you need to follow up another time in the future, you can. Plus you can always set a reminder on your phone. For everyone else, you can go for your appointment and set up a time to see them. Then just pick up the ball and run!
