Do You Hate Follow Up? Join the club! There are not too many people I know that actually like follow-up. Why do you think that is? Well it’s because people get nervous… anxious…they’re unsure what the prospect is going to say. And they just don’t want them to tell us no! Does that sound like your world? So let’s talk about how you should be following up with your prospects. And also a new way of thinking about follow up that will help you in the long run!
Set The Follow Up Time. First and foremost if you meet with the Prospect and you were meeting for a one-on-one, a home party, or an open meeting event. Whether they sign the spot or not. You will always, always, always have a follow-up plan in place. One of the things that happens that causes people to feel uncomfortable with following up. Is they do not set a follow-up time before leaving the meeting with a prospect.
How to Follow Up? Whether they sign up on the spot, and you will be following up to do their launch plan. Or they do not sign up on the spot… and they have questions, or want to talk to their spouse, or would like to try the product. You always, always, always! Follow up.
So if you just do the presentation with your prospect. You want to have some kind of follow-up set before you leave their presence. So maybe you’re following up to set a time to meet with their spouse. Or you’re following up to see how they like your product. Or you’re following up to get them some information for questions that they had. Whatever it is, you are setting the time that you’re going to follow back up with them before you leave their presence!
People Fall Thru the Cracks. Now often times people fall through the cracks because we don’t set this follow up time, or because we’re just not sure what to do next.
Network Marketing Follow Up System: Here’s a follow-up system that will help you. Open a gmail account (if you don’t already have one). Create a google sheets doc. This is basically a spread sheet you can use and it is stored in the cloud on line. (if you are not sure where to do this you can click here https://www.google.com/sheets/about/
Now what is special about this is it this Excel spreadsheet is because it is stored in the cloud you can access it from your phone, your iPad, computer, laptop…Basically you can be anywhere in the world and you can have access to your list. I think this is absolutely brilliant because often times we have our list written there on any place that we might have with us 24/7. This solves that problem.
Use the Tabs. Once you have your Google sheets you want to set up so there are 2 separate tabs. One tab is for your Active contacts. People you are working with right now… The other is for your Contacts you need to Follow up with in 3 months to a year. For each sheet make a column with their phone number. Make a column to put what your follow-up is about. And most importantly make a column to put the date that you need to follow up with them. That way whenever you’re ready to sit down and make calls all you have to do is hit the “sort button” (just go to “data” the tab at the top then hit “sort sheet by…”)
This will sort the spreadsheet according to the date and the people that you need to call that day will be at the top of your list! Now you’re going to create a second tab that will be here long-term prospects…
Remember everything changes! So whenever you have something new and exciting that comes out in your company you want to Circle back around with those people.
What Should This Follow-Up Call Look Like? You are calling to say hi. Nothing more… you’re not going to jump on your prospects. You’re just going to call and say hey and see how they are doing in their life. Of course they will probably ask you “how you are doing”! That will open the door for you to talk. At that point you can share with them some of the great things that are going on. Then if they are open, suggest that you guys meet up so you can share with them all of the details.
Some of your prospects you may be following up with long term, every 3, 6, or 12 months. Just circle back around every now and again to build a relationship and keep the lines of communication open.
You never know when somebody you talked to a while back maybe ready to get started. If you continue your follow-up, and building the relationship, you will be a true professional in network marketing and they will have the upmost respect for you!
