Could you imagine if it actually worked like everyone told us! You know… You go and personally sponsor 5 people and they are super pumped and do the exact same thing! You know, 5 who get 5, who get 5! And before you know it, by the time your six levels down, you have 15,625 people in your team! YAHOOOOOOOO!!!! Wouldn’t that be great if it REALLY worked like that! LOL! Reality check! It doesn’t! LOL!
Metcalfe’s Law: That whole scenario is based on Metcalfe’s law and it is what everybody uses to “sell” the Network Marketing business. However, you and I both know that the way things actually Shape Up is really quite different! You might sponsor people but keeping them in and building is a whole ‘nother story! The reality of it is, that sometimes you sponsor people and then they are nowhere to be found. So here are a few things you can do to keep your new team members fired up.
How to Motivate Your Team:
Motivation Tip #1: They Get to Earn While They Learn. It’s not like you’re going to sign them up, teach them a few things and then they take over from there. No, it’s important that they know, this is not an internship program. They get to earn while they learn! In the beginning it’s you two doing it together, then they will learn the skills they need to be off on their own. The goal is to get them a check FAST! They don’t need to know everything to start making money! So help them make money quickly!
Motivation Tip #2: Be in Contact with Them Regularly. All too often people do not stay in touch with their new people as much as they should. If you have somebody that’s hot and ready to roll, you should be talking to them several times a day. (At least once a day at a minimum!) And then it will taper down from there but in the beginning you should be talking to them quite frequently to help answer any questions that they have.
Motivation Tip #3: Help them Get Some Small WINS and Create Initial Momentum. The sooner we can help them get some sign ups, the sooner they will increase their confidence in themselves and the business to carry things through.
Motivation Tip #4: Don’t Push Them! There is a phrase I use all the time in the business… It goes like this… “Run with your Runners… Walk with your Walker’s… And love on the people who really just got signed up to use the product and be a part of the your community.”
Everyone joins for different reasons and some times we get in a hurry and think everyone is on our time schedule! –News flash— they’re not! LOL! So just because we want it to go fast or make 6 figures, or get to the top rank does NOT mean every one else does to. I know it sounds really strange but it is the truth. Sometimes if we push people, we will push them right back out of the business. So just lead at the pace they are looking to go. (You can always sponsor another person and run with them if it is not fast enough for you!)
