Do Your Habits Guarantee Your Success? Interesting question right? Most of the time we don’t think about our habits… we just do life! And they are, whatever they are. But it is quite important that we do think about them and are intentional with what we want. Our habits are the cords that weave the fabric of Our Lives. You can build something strong and amazing that supports you in the direction you want to go in your life. Or you can build habits the pull you down. And take you the opposite direction of what you really want. Your habits can become something that bind up your life and keep you in bondage. Or they can set you free!
So how important are they? And who really cares about habits? Well Stephen Covey from Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Darren Hardy from The Compound Effect, Jeff Olson from the Slight Edge, and John Maxwell are all extremely successful leaders in business and their works constantly remind us of the importance of habits and the power of what you do on a daily basis.
Habits + Time = Results
Your habits performed over any length of time will either push you toward your goals or away from your goals. Have you ever seen somebody diligently working away at something?
Maybe every morning when you wake up you see them out running your neighborhood. Or maybe it’s someone and every time you see their Facebook posts they have another picture of them growing their team.
You can know without a shadow of a doubt that their success is absolutely guaranteed. It is inevitable! We don’t know when… But their habits are so strong, so sure, so calculated; the only option is for them to succeed.
Wouldn’t you like habits like that? Wouldn’t you like to see results like that in your life? I sure hope so!
Three Tips for Implementing a New Habit…
Habit Tip #1: Remove Your Success Barriers.
Oftentimes there are things in our life that get in the way of our success. They become a stumbling block. A sore spot that can easily and trap you. So whatever that is for you…Remove the success barriers. Oftentimes this may be something like not going home until you make your prospecting calls. If you have a tendency to go home, eat a little dinner and then sit down in front of the TV. Perhaps don’t go home! Make a commitment to yourself that you will stay in your car and not walk in the house until you’ve at least contacted your 5 prospects.
Habit Tip #2: Plan ahead!
Planning ahead is very important. Schedule it on your calendar. Making a priority in your life. Don’t let other things encroach on the time that you have planned out for that specific habit. If you guard your habits and you guard the time that you are supposed to do them… Everything Will Change for You!
Habit Tip #3: Be Accountable.
This is extremely important. You cannot let yourself off the hook. Have somebody that you’re accountable to. I don’t care if you have somebody that you text your numbers into. Or you have a daily 2 minute phone call. Be accountable to someone other than yourself for completing your new habit.
Now that you understand the importance and the value of habits, and you have three tips to start implementing a new supportive way of being. There’s no telling what can happen! If you take this and apply it everything in your life can change! Habits are the core Foundation upon which you build your life. They determine how you look, they determine how you live, they determine the quality of your health, they determine the quality of your bank account! Habits affect all! So make your habits something that support you and draw you closer to your dreams and goals!
