This fall I was so very blessed to spend 4 days at a private event with Brendon Burchard. In case you’re not familiar with him this is a gentleman who is one of the top personal development coaches in the world. He is like a modern-day Jim Rohn! After spending an entire event with him for 4 days I had an entire Journal full of notes! And I wanted to cherry-pick a couple of the key things but we’re big takeaways.

Take Away #1: Nail the Fundamentals & Don’t Always Be Browsing. We live in a time where people have a hard time focusing. Learn to guard what you give your focus and attention to. And decide to master the fundamentals. Master the basics that produce the results. The Better you get at the basics, the More results you produce.
Take Away #2: Be Ok Messing It Up! Success is a little messy. Be ok with it! You don’t have to be perfect!

Tactics VS Philosophy… There are always 2 parts, tactics of what to do and the philosophy of why. The main thing we talked about at the event was not tactics, the little Nitty Gritty details. Rather, it was strategy, philosophy, and a way of thinking. If you have that right, all the other details tend to fall into place! There’s not many things that you can’t find by doing a Google search on “how to”. Today we are talking much deeper then that…
So the first big take away that I learned at the event was….
Take Away #1: Nail the Fundamentals & Don’t Always Be Browsing. We live in a day in age where we all constantly have A.D.D. We have shiny object syndrome! We’re moving and grooving working away and then we see something new and shinny and we wander off in a different direction. This just can’t be! LOL! If we want to go to the Finish Line… if we want to get to the Top… If you want to go to that next level in your business, you have to hunker down and master the fundamentals.
It’s funny because years ago I wanted to learn salsa dancing. I thought it looked like a lot of fun and it would just be a spectacular thing to do. And when I started I wanted to learn all of the really cool fancy stuff! I wanted to learn dips… I wanted to learn Footwork…I wanted to learn arm styling, you know all the good stuff that looks fun and flashy!
But my teacher told me over and over again, with that you had to master the basics. If not you just look like another gringo out there trying to dance! You could have all the extra fancy stuff but still not necessarily look that great. And the same holds true in our business!
If we don’t dial in on the fundamentals if we don’t dial in on the details… The the core things that makes our entire business operate, we won’t be functioning at Peak Performance. We might think that we’re ready to move on to more Advanced stuff. But at the end of the day, it comes down to showing the business, prospecting new people, and launching the people that join your team. That’s it!
If we can just get these cool things down the rest will fall into place.
Take Away #2: Be Ok Messing It Up! A lot of times it is easy to get self-conscious, or feel like
everything has to be perfect. It won’t! So don’t worry about it! Don’t sweat it!
It’s interesting because if you ever struggled with always trying to get everything right and you know exactly what I’m talking about. But in order to “perfect” something… In order to make it great. You must have the 1st version done! You cannot have “Version 10.0” without having the first 9 other versions!
So go out there and mess it up! It’s okay! I give you permission to mess it up! Once you do, then you have a basis to improve. You’ ll have some kind of reference that you can look at for moving forward! But if we never get out there and get in the game, then we’re missing the most important part!
Take Away #3: You Don’t Need More “How To’s”, You Need the Mindset as to Why!
What holds people back is not “How”. How To’s are everywhere! It is the mindset around the “How To”. If you want to learn how to contact people, if you want to learn how to lose weight, if you want to have a better relationship with your spouse, it’s as simple as Googling how to and you will find whatever you are looking for… Let’s be real we all know what it takes to lose weight. We all know what it takes to grow a business. The answers are right in front of us. But why aren’t we doing it? What is holding us back is the mindset. It’s the mental blocks that we’re dealing with to get to the next level? Watch the video for more details on what I mean and for a little bit of salsa dancing! LOL!
